Close friends and former McKinsey executives Kalra and Garg disrupted the logistics sector by taking a leaf out of the aviation sector’s playbook. In 2014, they launched Rivigo, with a relay trucking model that ensures higher truck utilisation by changing drivers, just as how crews change on board an aircraft. Since consignments are delivered faster, Rivigo is a hit with e-commerce, cold chain, pharma and fast-moving consumer goods companies. Valued at over $950 million, it counts Warburg Pincus and SAIF Partners as its investors. “We are nearing our milestone of achieving net profitability this year,” she says.
