Mathrubootham’s cloud-based customer-support software firm led the shift to customer service via Twitter, Facebook, and apps. Last June, it became Google Capital’s first foreign investment when it pumped in $31 million with Tiger Global and Accel. The funding enabled Freshdesk to expand in the U.S. and Europe, its largest markets. In October, it touched 30,000 customers, trebling within the year. Its latest innovation, FreshPhone, helps SMEs set up call centres and operate in 50 countries without service-provider charges.
