Bengaluru FC won the 2014 soccer I-League on debut, but its captain off the pitch is a former tennis player. Ghouse built a devoted fan base for the club among the Premier League-loving Indian youth, attracting sponsors hungry for a break from cricket. The club, backed by JSW Steel, sealed deals with the likes of Puma and SAP. “We knew we had an opportunity to attract youngsters, but I didn’t expect such a success so soon,” says Ghouse, who also heads a project to improve India’s Olympic tally.
