The Delhi-based eyewear startup can look back on 2020 with rose-tinted glasses. Not only did it turn profitable in FY20 with an ₹18-crore bottom line, but it also entered the unicorn club after raising ₹1,645 crore from SoftBank and Lightbulb and overtook Titan Eyewear to become India’s biggest eyewear retailer. Started as an e-commerce play, it now has about 550 stores nationwide. But the founders are looking ahead, with plans to expand the 11-year-old company’s presence in the Middle East and the U.S. It also recently acqui-hired delivery startup DailyJoy to bolster its technological prowess.
