Sharma and co-founder Vikas Jain were the first to make smartphones affordable enough to hurt a giant like Nokia. Last year, Micromax even overtook Samsung in one quarter. Sharma is the brain behind its market innovations, but Jain had seen the future of making inexpensive smartphones. So, Micromax made a handset into a wireless gaming stick for India, introduced gesturebased functions, and even put Swarovski crystals on handsets. It’s perhaps appropriate that Micromax roped in Hugh Jackman as brand ambassador. Like the product he endorsed, the Australian Jackman too was an outsider who broke into Hollywood’s A-list.
