Two years after they founded Pouring Pounds, the Bhargava couple set up CashKaro in 2013 in India, as an extension of their cashback website in the U.K., to tap into Indians’ love for deals. In less than a decade, the couple—both alumni of the London School of Economics—has set up three successful ventures across India, the U.K., and Singapore; they also run cashback site ZoBucks in Singapore. Their industry experience is helping them reap rich dividends here. CashKaro has grown to become one of the largest cashback and affiliate marketing sites in India and says it has enabled transactions worth $100 million in gross merchandise value annually. In FY18, the company’s revenue grew 35% to ₹23 crore from ₹17 crore in FY17 and losses more than halved to ₹1.6 crore, even after paying ₹100 crore as cashback to its users. The startup recently raised $5 million from Kalaari Capital, Ratan Tata, and a group of angel investors. The entrepreneurial couple aims to grow the company by over 200% in two years. The journey promises to be exciting.
