Brothers Shardul and Sitanshu want the agritech startup to be “the Flipkart for farmers”. They say Agro- Star—an online store for farmers for everything from seeds to light farm machinery— has over a million farmers connected on its platform across Gujarat, Maharashtra, and Rajasthan. It also has a data analytics platform where experts provide real-time advice to farmers. Increasing smartphone penetration in India is making the Sheths hopeful. AgroStar has raised $10 million from Accel, IDG Ventures, and Aavishkaar.
