Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman announced in the budget that two crore additional households will be funded under the Prime Minister Awas Yojana (rural) in the next five years. “Despite the challenges due to COVID-19, implementation of PM Awas Yojana (Grameen) continued and we are close to achieving the target of three crore houses. Two crore more houses will be taken up in the next five years to meet the requirement arising from an increase in the number of families,” Sitharaman said in the budget speech.
"Through rooftop solarization, one crore households will be enabled to obtain up to 300 units of free electricity every month. This scheme follows the resolve of the Hon’ble Prime Minister on the historic day of consecration of Ram Mandir in Ayodhya,” said Sitharaman.
