Tata Trusts’ Foundation for Innovation and Social Entrepreneurship (FISE) on Wednesday announced the launch of ‘Social Alpha Energy Challenge’ an initiative to back social-impact ventures and innovations in the field of energy.
FISE, the technology-business incubator that backs social-impact startups, in their lab-to-market journey, will focus on clean tech, sustainability and energy efficiency as part of the new programme. It will invite entries from innovators in the energy space across sectors such as infrastructure, transport and utility.
The winners will be assessed on parameters such as innovation, business viability, environmental sustainability, social impact and scalability. The winners will be the first group of enterprises to join the Tata Smart Energy Incubation Centre (TSEIC). TSEIC is a startup accelerator, built in partnership between Tata Power Delhi Distribution Limited and Tata Trusts.
A total of 10 winners will be selected for the incubation support including access to on-ground trials, go-to-market strategy and expert mentorship.
Manoj Kumar, head of innovation, Tata Trusts and CEO, Social Alpha, said, “Two years back we created FISE as a key component of our Social Alpha architecture with a charter to catalyse innovation and entrepreneurship for impact. TSEIC is our dedicated incubation centre with a charter to solve various riddles of energy challenges using state of the art technology infrastructure and domain expertise.”
“Tata Smart Energy Incubation Centre aims to bring innovation, domain and business expertise across the entire energy value chain to support scalable and sustainable solutions that helps to create new opportunities and nurtures societal value,” said Praveer Sinha, CEO and managing director, Tata Power Delhi Distribution Limited.
The last date to submit applications is April 7, 2018, an official statement added.
