AI can advance the sustainability agenda: Publicis Sapient CEO

Although there is no stopping artificial intelligence (AI) from seeping into our lives, there is an environmental cost to be considered. Publicis Sapient’s CEO, Nigel Vaz, says instead of deploying a large language model for something that can be done by a small language model, both the cost to compute and the impact of the amount of compute it requires in a data center or a cloud can be significantly reduced.

He also emphasises that it is critical for AI on how the systems are being designed in order to use the right tools for the right jobs.
