The Rs 100 rupee currency note is soon to get a makeover. According to a press release from the Reserve Bank of India RBI, the new note will be in lavender colour and will feature the motif of the ‘Rani-Ki-Vav’ (The Queen’s Stepwell), a Unesco world heritage site in Gujarat. The currency, whose dimension will be 66mm × 142mm, will also have the Swachh Bharat logo just like the other notes that were reissued after demonetisation. The central bank has not given the date of release, but said it will be released soon. All the Rs 100 banknotes issued earlier will continue to be legal tender.
