Ramkrishna is the most powerful woman in India’s securities market. After securing a near monopoly for NSE in equity and derivatives trading, she has introduced exchangetraded funds based on other international indices, which enables local investors to indirectly participate in the overseas market. Recently, NSE began trading in a futures product based on the Standard & Poor’s and Dow Jones Industrial Average indices. She also led NSE’s fight with newcomer MCX, which resulted in a major legal standoff between the two. The skirmish delayed the entry of MCX in key areas such as equity trading.
