Divya Gokulnath, mother to an eight-year-old and 11-month-old — better known as the co-founder of India's largest education technology company Byju's — has learnt to juggle work and home effortlessly over the past year. "The pandemic has been life changing for all of us, be it business or personal," says Divya, who was closely involved in launching Byju's free-live classes for students last year when schools were shut down due to Covid restrictions. The programme allowed K-12 (kindergarten to Class XII) students to book their preferred topic and time slot on the app. "We had to assess, adapt and implement at great speed to enable the new learning environment for children. As a digital-first company we pivoted our plans, fast-tracked the launch of multiple products to address the changing needs of children," she adds. Byju's introduced new subjects for K-12 during the pandemic, including history, civics and geography, besides learning content in Kannada, Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, and others. A BTech in biotechnology, Divya has been actively involved in conducting live classes on biology and mathematics during the initial lockdown period. She also worked across multiple departments within the organisation such as user experience, content and brand marketing.
