Bank of America Merrill Lynch is the largest FII broker in India by market share, bringing more foreign investment than any other firm on the street. Since Nakhate took over, she’s seen the downside of the market but continues her focus on transactions- led banking, increasing its share in the top line by 5% to 30% last year. She also led India’s first telecom tower IPO (Bharti Infratel) for $760 million and an $800 million perpetual bond offering for RIL. In the M&A area, the firm executed a $2.45 billion partial interest offshore acquisition by OVL and OIL from Videocon. Other transformational deals include advising on the Etihad-Jet Airways deal, Diageo’s $1.05 billion acquisition of a controlling stake in USL, and Apollo’s acquisition of Cooper Tires & Rubber Co. for $2.5 billion.
