She hosted HSBC’s Asia Pacific board meeting in India recently, and says, the fact the meet was held here indicates the growing importance of the 158-year-old Indian operations. HSBC India is now the fifth-largest in the group, and one of the most profitable foreign banks in India. Currently the senior vice president at FICCI, where she heads the Water Mission, Kidwai is set to take over as its president next month. She also sits on a host of boards and committees—and still manages to find time to walk her three dogs. Her interests in environment and energy efficiency means she’s on the advisory council of The Energy Research Institute and Shakti Sustainable Energy Foundation.
