Preetha Reddy,
MD, Apollo Hospital Enterprisesage: 53
Reddy is not only fulfilling her father Prathap C. Reddy’s dream of expanding Apollo Hospitals across the country, she’s going beyond that. In the last 18 months, she has raised the interest of investors such as Malaysia’s sovereign fund Khazanah Nasional and Apax Partners with her new rural and semi-urban health care model, Apollo Reach. In these hospitals, a bed costs Rs 50 lakh, around 40% cheaper than what it costs at city hospitals. Reddy plans to take Reach to 50 small cities and towns. Seven hospitals have already begun operations in Hyderabad and Mysore. Reddy’s new business now contributes an additional Rs 20 crore in Ebidta, or 5% of the total margin last year. Reddy's task isn't easy: Apollo’s leadership in the health care business is under threat from Fortis, the Delhi-based hospital chain run by the Singh brothers.
