Under her leadership, HDFC was named the best-performing primary lending institution in credit linked subsidy scheme (CLSS) for the economically weaker section (EWS) and low income group (LIG) categories at the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana-Affordable Housing Awards in March. In line with the scheme, it approved loans worth ₹22,136 crore to first-time homebuyers from the EWS, LIG, and middle-income group. The cumulative subsidy stood at over ₹2,300 crore to over 100,000 beneficiaries as of May, making HDFC the first housing finance player to meet this target. This despite having a lower branch reach than public sector banks.
