Ramnath made news with her firm’s investment in multiplex major PVR. She backed PVR to buy Cinemax, enabling the company to emerge as the country’s largest multiplex chain, dominating in 10 markets and controlling more than 25% of all Hindi movie collections in India. She has since led two more large investments in diverse sectors—including a significant stake in agri-processing equipment maker Milltec Machinery; and a controlling stake in Vikram Hospital. Earlier this year, Ramnath was also appointed by the government as a director on the board of Air India, as well as Bharatiya Mahila Bank, India’s first woman-focussed bank.
