Ekambaram’s tenure was tested during demonetisation, but she came out trumps. She ensured that Kotak bucked the ratecutting trend across segments. The only cut was a 50 basis point cut for accounts with deposits between Rs 1 crore and Rs 5 crore. This had its effect; Kotak’s latest quarterly results show a 22.6% increase in net profit and a 21% rise in advances. Meanwhile, Ekambaram is also focussing on digital, with tie-ups with Samsung Pay and fintech firm Zeta.
