Ekambaram has focussed on building a strong retail liability franchise with an emphasis on enhanced customer experience and growing the bank’s loan book in a sustained manner without compromising on quality. “Low-cost liabilities are core to a diversified financial services institution,” says Ekambaram. Under her guidance, her bank’s current account savings account (CASA) ratio in FY19 grew to 52.5% of total deposits from 50.8% in FY18. Within CASA, she has focussed on growing retail term deposits below ₹1 crore. “We have seen a growth of over 30% in retail deposits in FY19,” she says.
