Zarin Daruwala,
CEO, Standard Chartered Indiaage: 52
Since she took over a year ago, Daruwala has scripted a transformation that saw the bank’s headcount increase by 6.7%. The result: Current account savings account (CASA) balances went up 21%, largely due to employee banking relationships. When she took over, the biggest business— wholesale lending—was struggling. Never one to give up on a difficult task, she threw it a lifeline. She derisked the corporate book by reducing asset concentration in problem accounts and by getting new clients.
