Mody has advised some of India Inc.’s biggest companies on some of the year’s most highprofile deals. These include advising Tata Consultancy Services on a Rs 1,850 crore deal with Japan’s Mitsubishi; L&T Infrastructure Development Projects on a Rs 2,000 crore investment by Canada Pension Plan Investment Board; Independent Media Trust on acquiring a controlling interest in Network18, and Tata Sons on its joint venture with Singapore Airlines. “With the new government and the promise of stability, we will once again see brisk M&A activity in terms of cross-border acquisitions by Indian companies looking outbound,” she says. Mody is betting on that: Over the last year, she has nearly doubled the headcount of her team.
