Apple's latest upgrade Watch Series 10, launched at its 'Glowtime' event on September 9, 2024, is its thinnest Apple Watch yet and offers a bigger display than the previous ones. Apple claims Watch Series 10 is 10% thinner than previous Series 9 and maintains an 18-hour battery life. It's also a lighter device Apple's last few watch models.

The latest features include new sleep apnea notifications; faster charging; water depth and temperature sensing; plus new health and fitness insights, and intelligence in watchOS 11.

Apple Watch Series 10 is available in aluminium and titanium and in different colours and finishes. Apple has come up with a new polished aluminium finish this time. The Watch’s S10 SiP and built-in 4-core neural engine allow the double tap gesture, on-device Siri, dictation, and automatic workout detection; crash and fall detection; and the updated smart stack.

To improve readability and usability, the Watch Series 10 offers a larger display, 9% bigger than the Watch Series 9. The larger display also makes it easier to type a message, pause a workout, or enter a passcode.

For the first time, Apple has used a wide-angle OLED display in Watch Series 10. In terms of charging, Apple says fifteen minutes of charge time provides up to eight hours of normal daily use. One can charge to 80% battery in about 30 minutes.

Building on its health features, Apple says the new models will offer a feature to help identify signs of sleep apnea, a condition where breathing stops repeatedly during sleep. It is estimated to impact more than 1 billion people worldwide. Apple says its sleep apnea algorithm analyses breathing disturbance data, and notifies a user if the data indicates consistent signs.

Apple Watch Series 10 starts at ₹46,900, while Apple Watch SE is available starting at ₹24,900.

Apple markets the Watch Ultra 2 for athletes and adventurers. “Apple watchOS 11 brings powerful new features to the best sports watch, with breakthrough insights from training load and the Vitals app; sleep apnea notifications; the Tides app; new customisation options for the Action button; and more,” says the company.

Apple says its new Titanium Milanese Loop band, designed for water activities, is lightweight and offers elegance. “An all-new Apple Watch Hermès Ultra 2 combines the durability and features of Apple Watch Ultra 2 with a nautically inspired watch band and an exclusive Hermès watch face.”
