Auto Expo 2023: Tata Motors launches HARRIER.EV, SIERRA.EV; unveils 10 other EV products
To promote net-zero emissions by 2040 for passenger vehicles, Tata Motors has launched 12 electric products and concepts at the Auto Expo 2023, including HARRIER.EV, SIERRA.EV, and AVINYA concept, amongst others. The company unveiled products across Gen 2 and Gen 3 architecture, and design innovation in CNG, with the concept Curvv in its ICE avatar.
Shailesh Chandra, managing director, Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles Ltd and Tata Passenger Electric Mobility Ltd said, "We have refreshed and upgraded our portfolio with speed and agility, in line with fast-evolving customer needs and lifestyles. We are creating India-centric, new-age personal mobility solutions by deploying smarter and safer technologies. Today, we are unveiling design innovations in CNG that will disrupt established norms and are presenting modern body styles with the concept Curvv in its ICE avatar for the aspiring Indians."
"We are driving towards a greener future mandate which demands an urgent collaborative action to reduce carbon emission. With an aim to attain net zero emission by 2040, we are spearheading this mission on the back of our three-gen EV architecture strategy. Today, we have unveiled products across Gen 2 and Gen 3 architecture with the Avinya, Harrier.EV and our showstopper Sierra.EV which will make EVs more aspirational. EV contribution in our portfolio is likely to increase to 25% in 5 years and reach 50% by 2030," he added.
HARRIER.EV
The 5-seater all-electric SUV HARRIER.EV, is engineered on the OMEGA Architecture, the design which is used in Tata’s flagship Land Rover D8 model. "With HARRIER.EV we are extending this pedigree to the Gen 2 EV architecture," the company said.
SIERRA.EV
The company’s SIERRA.EV is laden with a clamshell tailgate that provides unparalleled access to the rear luggage compartment, glazing and panoramic sunroof, lounge seating at the rear, and business class style reclining function.
AVINYA Concept
Tata Motors' PURE EV AVINYA Concept is based on the company's Gen 3 architecture, which uses efficient electronic componentry, and proprietary energy management strategies & algorithms for efficiency management. The electric vehicle is laden with a sky dome, functional console-inspired steering wheel, voice-activated systems, and 'Butterfly' doors.
"Use of lightweight materials, and optimised structure for an EV-only powertrain with enabled appropriate stiffness, helps minimise the overall mass, leading to good weight management. Furthermore, the battery used will support an ultra-fast charge capability, in line with the infrastructure evolution, pumping a minimum 500 km range in under 30 minutes," the company said.
CURVV Concept
The company's CURVV concept has a raised ride height, tough cladding and dynamic proportions. It has a large offset of the front and rear fenders that support its alloy wheels, which has an aero-blade design. On the exterior it has the slim upper DRL and triangular headlamp design, signature LED lamps, daylight opening, wheel arch cladding, floating bonus, and floating C-pillar. The spacious interior of the car is laden with new-age technologies and HMI, a large panoramic glass roof, and a split rear spoiler.
