PNG, CNG prices hiked across Delhi-NCR
Indraprastha Gas Ltd (IGL), which primarily operates in Delhi-NCR and surrounding regions, has hiked prices of piped natural gas (PNG) by ₹4.25 per standard cubic meter (SCM) with effect from April 14, Thursday. The PNG prices have primarily been increased in the wake of rising input costs.
As per the revised prices of PNG, in the National Capital Territory (NCT) of Delhi, the PNG prices have been increased to ₹45.86 per SCM. The revised prices in Noida, Greater Noida and Ghaziabad stand at ₹45.96 per SCM. PNG in Gurugram will now cost ₹44.06 per SCM.
Apart from PNG, the CNG (compressed natural gas) prices have also been increased across the Delhi-NCR region, with prices rising to ₹71.61 per kg in Delhi and ₹74.17 per kg in Noida, Greater Noida and Ghaziabad. In Gurugram, the CNG prices have risen to ₹79.94 per kg.
Before this, IGL had hiked CNG prices by 80 paise per kg and PNG prices by ₹5.85 per cubic meter on April 1. In total, Delhi has seen a ₹15 per kg hike in CNG since March. Besides, PNG prices were also hiked by ₹1 per SCM.
Similarly, Mahanagar Gas Limited (MGL) also hiked CNG prices by ₹5 per kg to ₹72 per kg in Mumbai over the high input cost. The company cited a 110% hike in the supply price of domestically-procured natural gas by the Centre.
On the fuel front, retail prices of petrol and diesel were kept unchanged today for the 8th day in a row, with petrol costing ₹105.41 per litre in Delhi and diesel costing ₹96.67 per litre. In Mumbai, petrol prices remain at ₹120.51 per litre, while diesel costs ₹104.77 per litre. In Chennai and Kolkata, petrol remains at ₹115.12 per litre and ₹115.12 per litre, respectively. The diesel costs ₹100.94 per litre and 99.83 per litre in these two megacities.
As per the state-owned oil companies' petrol price build-up data effective April 1, 2022, the government charges ₹27.90 per litre excise duty on petrol. Along with dealer commission of ₹3.83 per litre and Value Added Tax (VAT) charged by states, the total tax on petrol in Delhi stands at ₹48.27 per litre. Similarly, the total tax on diesel in the national capital stands at ₹37.98 per litre.
