Home Minister Amit Shah has invested in stocks of 181 listed companies, valuing his equity portfolio at ₹17.43 crore, according to the affidavit filed with the Election Commission of India.
Shah's top bets include 4,000 shares of Colgate-Palmolive (India) Ltd valued at ₹1.06 crore, 6,176 shares of fast-moving consumer goods giant Hindustan Unilever worth ₹1.35 crore, and 100 shares of tyre maker MRF having a market value of ₹1.29 crore.
Shah also has investments worth over ₹95 lakh in Procter & Gamble Hygiene & Health Care, the local arm of the American FMCG giant.
Shah's wife Sonal Shah also owns shares in 79 listed companies which include 598 shares in Procter & Gamble Hygiene & Health Care worth ₹95 lakh.
The duo's investment in 10 companies is more than ₹1 crore.
Sonal's biggest bets include 50,000 shares of public sector lender Canara Bank valued at ₹2.96 crore; 1 lakh shares of Karur Vysya bank worth ₹1,88 crore; 5,000 shares of industrial refrigerant manufacturer Gujarat Fluorochemicals valued at ₹1.78 crore; 1,016 shares of Lakshmi Machine Works valued at ₹1.75 crore; 10,732 shares of telecom operator Bharti Airtel worth ₹1.23 crore and 6,800 shares of drug maker Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd worth ₹1.04 crore.
The total value of Sonal Shah's equity portfolio is over ₹20 crore.
The home minister also owns 1,095 shares of electrical products maker ABB India worth over ₹71 lakh; 1,400 shares of engine producer Cummins India worth ₹42 lakh; 2,000 shares of abrasives company Grindwell Norton worth ₹42 lakh; 2,970 shares of India's second-largest IT firm Infosys valued at ₹43 lakh; 15,000 shares of cigarette-to-FMCG conglomerate ITC worth ₹63 lakh; 15,000 shares of Kansai Nerolac Paints valued at ₹40 lakh; 1,500 shares of Nestle India worth 38 lakh; 2,500 shares of the Wadia group's coffee plantation company Bombay Burmah Trading Corporation valued at ₹38 lakh; 10,005 shares of luggage trolley maker VIP Industries worth ₹52 lakh; and 6,531 shares of Berger Paints valued at over ₹35 lakh among others.
