G20 Summit: Consensus achieved on 'Delhi Declaration', says PM Modi

Prime Minister Narendra Modi says the leaders of G20 countries have reached a consensus on the "New Delhi Declaration". The details of the joint declaration on New Delhi G20 Leaders' Summit are awaited.

"I have received good news. Due to the hard work of our team, consensus has been built on New Delhi G20 Leaders' Summit Declaration. My proposal is to adopt this leadership declaration. I announce to adopt this declaration. On this occasion, I congratulate my Sherpa, ministers, who worked hard for it and made it possible," says PM Modi.

G20 Sherpa Amitabh Kant took to X, formerly known as Twitter, to share the development, terming this as the golden age of human-centric globalisation and India’s G20 Presidency under the leadership of PM Modi worked tirelessly towards this goal.

“The #NewDelhiLeadersDeclaration has been officially adopted at the #G20India Leaders’ Summit! Today’s era must be marked as the golden age of human-centric globalisation & India’s G20 Presidency under the leadership of PM @narendramodi has worked tirelessly towards this goal,” he tweets.

In his post, Kant says, “India’s G20 Presidency has been inclusive, ambitious, decisive, action-oriented & unafraid to challenge the status quo. Under PM @narendramodi we have given a strong call to action for the leaders to take G20 to the last mile.”

“G20India has been the MOST ambitious in the history of #G20 presidencies. With 112 outcomes and presidency documents, we have more than doubled the substantive work from previous presidencies,” he adds.

A day before the G20 Summit, Amitabh Kant had on Friday said the joint declaration was "almost ready" and would be presented to G20 leaders over the course of the two-day summit.

Earlier today, while speaking at session 1 of the G20 Summit in New Delhi, PM Modi said India made the global event a 'People's G20' as crores of people have been associated with the country's Presidency, over 200 meetings that have taken place in over 60 cities.

The Prime Minister says India's G20 Presidency has become a symbol of "inclusion", of "sabka saath" -- both inside and outside the country. "With the sense of 'Sabka Saath', India had proposed that the African Union be granted permanent membership of G20. I believe that all of us agree to this proposal," he said while inaugurating the G20 Summit.
