Covid-19 cases in the country are increasing as 3,47,254 new cases were recorded in the last 24 hours. India's active caseload currently stands at 20,18,825. The daily positivity rate is 17.94% and weekly positivity rate is 16.56%. India did 19.35 lakh tests yesterday out of a total of 71.15 crore tests done so far.
Karnataka logged over 47,000 new Covid-19 cases on Thursday, including over 30,000 cases reported in Bengaluru. Both Kerala and Maharashtra witnessed over 46,000 new cases of Covid-19 in a day. Tamil Nadu also reported over 28,500 new Covid-19 cases, including nearly 7,500 in Chennai.
Positivity rate in Maharashtra is now at 23.5% and districts like Raigad, Pune, Nashik and Nanded are reporting a higher positive rate than the state average. Maharashtra Health Minister Rajesh Tope had said however, at least 95% of beds are vacant or hospitalisation is only about 4-5%. The Kerala government has decided to enforce total lockdown on the next two Sundays and has classified various districts into A, B and C categories, with the highest C class restriction imposed in four districts. However, malls and restaurants are allowed to function with restrictions. Social congregations also have restrictions.

So far 9,692 Omicron cases have been detected in the country, an increase of 4.36% since yesterday. India did 19,35,912 tests in the last 24 hours.
With the administration of more than 70 lakh doses (70,49,779) of Covid-19 vaccine doses in the last 24 hours, India’s vaccination coverage has exceeded 160.43 crore. as per provisional reports till 7 am today. More than 12.73 crore balance and unutilised vaccine doses are still available with various states and UTs.
