Fortune India is a 100 issues old! In the course of these 100 issues, the magazine has brought its own unique perspective to the readers in the form of some very exciting stories, ranging from Ratan Tata’s acumen as a startup investor to an ambitious Bengaluru company with plans to land a rover on the moon.
As with every September, this month we have once again picked up luxury as the central theme, and bring you stories of three very interesting businesses with a royal connection: milliners Lock & Co., perfumer Floris, and shotgun maker Purdey.
Floris started selling fine combs more than 200 years ago before it became a royal perfumer. And as the story goes – This year, London’s premier perfumers made a special fragrance for Meghan Markle when she got married to Prince Harry, sixth in line to the throne of England.
The second luxury story is about royal milliners Lock & Co., who have been making hats for more than 300 years. Interestingly, they also tell us about how they deal with fat heads. Then there is one on shotgun maker James Purdey and Sons (which is owned by the Swiss luxury conglomerate Richemont), and how a shotgun can be as precious to many wealthy collectors as a painting.
To mark our 100th issue, we have compiled a 100th edition package, where we look at the key milestones in the economy during the course of these issues and how the markets have fared during the time. We also have chief executives of three companies: Nestle, Adidas, and NSE talking about their experience during their first 100 days in office.
