Encourage pvt investment in Rly, Defence: Deloitte
Ahead of the budget, Deloitte India partner Bhavik Damodar said that the government needs to continue its infrastructure agenda with investments in highways and a focus on new and emerging areas such as the hydrogen sector. “One is the continued agenda. The road sector push has to continue. Renewable is big and needs to continue, but the question is how much of the renewable can we put on the grid. There is a need to look at the sectors where the private guys have not played too much of a role. For example, in railways there is a big vacuum today in terms of private involvement. Also, in defence, especially when we have a goal to become Atma Nirbhar in defence, what do we do there?” Damodar said in an interaction with Fortune India.
“Thirdly, priority reforms have to be taken up in the discom sector. How do we think about privatisation, given the fact that we have seen the advantage of privatisation play out in many different pockets?” he added.
