PLI must in job creating sectors like textile, leather, MSMEs: Deloitte
Deloitte India Economist Rumki Majumdar stated that the government needs to prioritise consumer spending and rural demand by promoting Production Linked Incentives (PLIs) in job-creating sectors such as textiles, leather, handicrafts, and others, along with the MSME sector. "One of the focuses should be to boost consumer spending, specifically rural demand. It can focus on creating more jobs and income opportunities to address these issues. Hence, we believe the government will underscore its efforts in promoting manufacturing and infrastructure in the country. The government will need to broaden the scope of PLI schemes, especially in sectors that can create more jobs, such as textiles, leather, handicrafts, and others," Majumdar added.
