Emphasizing on the socio economic benefits accrued to the union territory of J&K after abrogation of Article 370, finance minister Nirmala Sitharaman on Monday said that removal of the Article was "necessary" and "delayed". Tabling the budget of the Union Territory of J&K on Monday, Sitharaman said that 890 Central laws never applied to the J&K, which have now become applicable. “Unjust and discriminatory laws were removed. Women commission was not there, SC, ST commission was not there. So is this justice or not now,” Sitharaman said, adding that removal of 370 has enabled that the provision given for the scheduled SCs and STs in the rest of the country is also now available to the community in J&K.
