Karnataka chief minister Basavaraj Bommai on Saturday said his goal is to set up an aviation manufacturing hub in Bangalore in the next few years.
Addressing the young entrepreneurs at the Fortune India 40 Under 40 Awards event in Bangalore, Bommai said, “Our policy is to do business. We have got semiconductor policy, aerospace policy, defence equipment manufacturing policy and renewable energy policy. We are very forward looking.”
“In Bangalore, all the parts of an aircraft are manufactured, including engines. My next goal is that within a few years, the best of the companies like Boeing and Airbus should have a manufacturing hub here. I am going to create that,” Bommai said.
Talking about how the state excels in innovation and caters to every sector, be it farming or aerospace, Bommai said that he recently laid foundation stone for manufacturing of nano urea. “For the farming sector, I have just put up a foundation for nano urea manufacturing. One bag of urea is now being converted into a 100 ml bottle.”
Bommai also announced the state government’s decision to convert seven engineering colleges into IITs in next five years to bring innovation in the state.
