Social media indeed helps people stay connected with friends and family— especially during the lockdown—but when one abuses its power it could lead to mental health issues, avers Neerja Birla, founder and chairperson, Mpower. “One needs to know how much social media to use. One can’t become a slave of social media," she adds.
In an interview with Fortune India on World Mental Health Day, Birla says that the biggest challenge with social media is the picture-perfect life that people try to depict. “Life is not at all perfect. If everyone makes that change of not portraying a perfect world, it will help.”
