If Indians are foodies, Deepinder Goyal is their Pied Piper. He founded Zomato in 2008 with menus of 1,200 restaurants. It drew 50,000 unique visitors a month. Restaurant and poultry chain Republic of Chicken also paid Zomato Rs 2.4 lakh in the first year. Raising capital has been easy; investors invariably use Zomato. Goyal has raised $55 million from the likes of Sequoia and Info Edge (of Naukri fame), and has expanded to 11 countries. His biggest strengths are his tech and content teams.
