Murthy is an avid runner. He says running makes him efficient and brings “a sense of peace and calm, which helps me think through and take tough decisions”. General Mills would appreciate that as Murthy’s decisions turned its India business from just a flour maker to a snacks maker, and tripled its growth rate. Murthy has also successfully diversified the portfolio of the brand, launching new products such as Pillsbury cookies and cakes. “India remains a core market for General Mills global and we have some exciting plans for the market,” he says.
