FOR THE LAST one year, Generative AI has been one of Zoom’s key focus areas. Aparna Bawa, chief operating officer, Zoom Video Communications, says the firm aims to democratise the use of AI and offer it to customers regardless of the size of their business. “(We) will continue to invest in AI to make human-to-human interaction more meaningful, processes more streamlined, and collaboration with coworkers and customers more effective,” says Bawa. In September 2023, the company launched its Generative AI digital assistant — Zoom AI Companion, allowing users to access features such as summaries and updates on meetings, without disruption. Revenue grew 3.1% YoY to $4.5 billion in FY24.
For Bawa, who was previously chief legal officer at Zoom, priorities during the year included enhancing security measures. “We continue to add features to Zoom Workplace, allowing users to implement additional security measures such as automatic updates to receive important security fixes and other features in real-time,” says Bawa. The company also implemented its customer managed key to enable users to set up encryption keys for their data stored in the Zoom environment. — Arnika Thakur
