Step into a meeting with Sahney Zaveri and the first thing she will do is ask where you’re from, where you’ve lived, and so on. That comes to her naturally: She is an anthropology graduate from Wellesley College in Massachusetts, an institution renowned for developing women leaders. Its alumnae include former U.S. Secretary of State Madeleine Albright, and incumbent Hillary Clinton, besides China’s influential political figure Madam Chiang Kai-Shek, and Colgate-Palmolive’s ex-vice chairperson Lois Juliber. Like Mallika Srinivasan of TAFE, Sahney Zaveri flourishes in an industry where men dominate. Since she became president of NRB in 2001, the company’s revenue has grown 400% to reach about $100 million. Its clients include French, Swedish, German, and U.S. companies and Sahney Zaveri says her college training gives her the edge in holding her own in the auto industry. In a latest, when the Ford Fiesta debuted globally in 2011, it sported a dual clutch system designed by NRB Bearings. Sahney Zaveri is now betting big overseas.
