Like the other two before her on this list, Sharma too had a bad year, for pretty much the same reasons. Except, it looks like it was a worse year for Axis. The rising tide of non-performing assets saw profits plunge almost 53% in FY17, with little sign of improvement. But Sharma isn’t at No. 3 for no reason; she is intent on getting Axis back on track. She’s focussing on three key areas: strengthening the retail and small and medium franchise of the bank; digital banking and payments; and focussing on A-rated companies.
