VAISHALI NIGAM Sinha, co-founder of Nasdaq-listed green energy player ReNew, has had a passion for sustainability since her college days in India. She continued to pursue this at Columbia University and Harvard Business School and worked for over 15 years in companies such as Daiwa Capital Markets, DSP Merrill Lynch and International Capital Group before setting up ReNew Power with her investment banker husband Sumant Sinha in 2011.
In last 13 years, she has helped ReNew become one of India’s leading decarbonisation solutions providers with a clean energy portfolio of 10 GW; another eight GW is under construction. In August 2021, ReNew became the first Indian renewable energy company to list on NASDAQ. ReNew clocked a revenue of ₹9,653.1 crore in FY24, up 8% from ₹8,930.9 crore in FY23. Net profit was ₹414.7 crore compared to a net loss of ₹502.9 crore in FY23.
An advocate of climate action and gender equality, Vaishali says, “I have pushed for female representation across all levels, from manufacturing sites to the board.” ReNew’s board has 40% women representation.
