How Torrent's Mehta brothers effected smooth succession

Samir Mehta, chairman, Torrent Group, says that all four next generation family members have gone through education abroad, and having many years living outside gave them big exposure to the world. It was a concern for Sudhir Mehta (chairman Emeritus and elder brother of Samir Mehta) and Samir Mehta, whether the next gen would like to pursue opportunities elsewhere or would join the family business.

They were given the freedom to push the path they wanted to pursue and whether to return to India and join the family business. After many debates and discussions,  all the four next gen chose to join the family business. They have adorned various roles in Torrent businesses and have gained experience. Various family agreements are in place, and they will switch roles in future in accordance to needs and business strategies.
