ICICI Bank under Kochhar is getting ready to take on the digital world. It recently launched an app that allows customers to track their accounts and transfer money from Facebook. The country’s largest private sector bank is not ignoring its core function though, and reported a 26% jump in profit after tax to Rs 9,604 crore in FY13. The bank also saw a 50% increase in savings accounts in FY13. It will have to continue balancing growth with risk to keep non-performing assets at a manageable level. And proving that she’s powerful not just within her own industry, Kochhar was asked to head a government committee under the Ministry of Power, set up to recommend solutions to coal and gas supply issues.
