Benefits worth ₹6.3 lakh cr to 12 cr farmers in FY23: Mansukh Mandaviya
Stressing that the Modi government is taking every possible farmer-friendly decision, chemicals and fertiliser minister Mansukh Mandaviya today said benefits to the tune of ₹6,30,890 crore have been provided to 12 crore farmers in the country. "The budget for fertiliser subsidy was increased by ₹1,00,000 crore to ₹2.54,000 crore in FY23. The government ensured that the farmers do not face the brunt of high prices in the wake of shortage. Similarly, we have continuously raised the MSP. Those protesting for the MSP hike now never raised the MSP when they were in power. We implemented the Swaminathan Committee," said Mandaviya, addressing the cabinet meeting in New Delhi today. He added that ₹2,72,000 crore has been given to farmers by way of MSP and ₹1,00,000 crore has been directly transferred under the PM Kisan Samman Nidhi in FY23. This way total benefit to the tune of ₹6,30,890 crore has been provided to twelve crore farmers which comes to ₹52,574 per farmer, he added.
