Bansal has been elevated to board member and head of commerce at Flipkart after the latter bought out Myntra last year. After the merger with Flipkart, which brought in much-needed capital for the online fashion leader, the two companies claim a market share of more than 50% in fashion and apparel. The promotion means Bansal will oversee day-to-day operations and selection of categories and new markets, as well as front-end and backend tech functions. His rise testifies to the leadership he demonstrated at Myntra. It’s also an endorsement of his ability to run a tight ship in a cash-awash industry.
